The study of the interaction features between small molecules and biological
macromolecules such as proteins and discussions regarding the thermodynamic quality,
and the mechanism of the interactions play a critical role in promoting research in proteins.
The aim of this work was to investigate the dopamine interaction with catalase as a protein
model by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Ct belongs to the oxidoreductase family class and
possesses a heme prosthetic group at its active site with metallic iron (Fe (III)). It exists in
all almost aerobically respiring organisms protects cells from the toxic effects of hydrogen
peroxide. The results confirm that the interaction has predominan effects on structure,
activity and thermodynamic parameters of the protein.
