The aim of this study was to investigate the role of family parenting on adolescents’ self-silencing. The participants in this study, 501 (250 girls and 251 boys) junior and senior high school students (grades 9 and 10) from the city of Dayyer, Bushehr province, Iran, were selected by multistage random cluster sampling method. They completed a parenting questionnaire and a self-silencing scale. Based on simultaneous stepwise regression analysis for parenting factors, the most important variables for the prediction of self-silencing were monitoring, rigor, warmth, and acceptance, respectively.
