Background: Computer-cognitive games are new and exciting ways for kids and teens which in addition to fun aspects help them improve their cognitive functions and creativity.
Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of computer-cognitive games on executive functions and creativity of preschool children.
Methodology: The present study was conducted in a semi-experimental design with pretest-posttest and control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of pre-school children of Bushehr city in 1397 who were studying in pre-school centers of this city. By multistage cluster random sampling, 21 subjects were selected as the main sample, then in three groups with seven subjects, two experimental and one control groups were replaced. One of experimental groups received Lumosity games in 21 45-minutes sessions and another experimental group received Tetris games in 12 45-minutes sessions, while the control group did not receive any games during this period.
Results: The results showed that performing cognitive computer games has a significant effect on creativity and working memory of preschool children, but there is no significant effect on selective attention and cognitive flexibility and planning and organizing.
Conclusions: Findings of this research indicated that performing computer-cognitive games is one of the factors influencing the creativity and working memory of preschool children. Therefore, compute-cognitive games can be used as a tool for improving the creativity and working memory of children.
