Alpha S1 casein (CSN1S1) is important in terms of both feeding and animal breeding. In this study we investigated the polymorphisms in encoding region of CSN1S1 gene in mRNA of mammary gland. For this purpose, mammary gland samples were examined using biopsy gun from Adani goats. After RNA extraction and cDNA production, encoding region was amplified by specific primers and PCR, and then PCR products were sequenced. The results indicated that in encoding region of CSN1S1 gene there are 5 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), one in exon 12, and each exon 3 and 4 have two SNPs. Although one of mutations in exon 3 was not affected the amino acid, but other mutations are leading to amino acid variations. Generally, mutations observed in this study, in addition to their impact on milk nutritional value, have important effect on protein structure and animal breeding.
