Although the majority of the scholars of the Arabic prosody share the belief that Mutad?rik metre was devised and added by Akhfash Owsat to the Khalili 's fifteen metres, historical and structural investigations prove that this metre can not be his innovation.
Meanwhile, there is an attempt here to introduce the real innovator of the putative metre whom the author of this article believes to be Ibn Hamm?d Jowhar?. He innovated Mutad?rik metre to explain his own metrical theory.
