Essential oil vapours from Thymus vulgaris L., Salvia mirzayanii Rech. f. Esfand and Trachyspermum ammi L. were tested for their toxicities against the adults of Oligonychus afrasiaticus (MCG.) (Acari: Tetranychidae). Essential oils from three species of plants were obtained by hydrodistillation method using a Clevenger-type apparatus. The major compounds in these essential oils were identified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The essential oils of three tested plant species showed desirable acaricidal activities against pest. LC50 and LC99 values of each essential oil were estimated for O. afrasiaticus adults. Essential oils chemical composition analysis showed that thymol, linalool, and carvacrol were the major compounds in the essential oils of T. ammi, S. mirzayanii, and T. vulgaris , respectively. The present report is the first report on assaying the essential oils of three plants against O. afrasiaticus in the laboratory conditions.
