Production analysis models are helpful elements in the estimation of reservoir parameters and also production forecast using usual and inexpensive production data. Simplifying assumptions in derivation of these models limits range of their application. In this study, applicability of three prevalent methods is evaluated for production analysis of multi-layer gas reservoirs. Moreover, the effect of cross-flow on the accuracy of results provided by these methods is considered. The production data of 1 homogenous synthetic gas reservoir model and 6 different synthetic multi-layer models are analyzed by Arps empirical method, Blasingame type curve method, and dynamic material balance (DMB) method. The analysis results are compared with true values from the numerical simulation models and error analyses are performed. The results show that DMB method provides more reliable estimations than those determined by Blasingame type curve method and Arps method. Also, the results show that as the intensity of cross-flow between layers increases, the accuracy of all methods increases.
