Lime (C. aurantifolia L.) belongs to family Rutaceae and genus Citrus. It is native to the tropics but is also cultivated in subtropical areas having warm and humidclimate.Salinity is one of the problems for agriculture in many parts of the world, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Because plants can not get away from the stressful situation, it should find solutions to make them adapted to their environment. In this study the possible alleviating effect of putrescine on salinity were studiedin one-year-oldlime seedlings. Seedlings were treated through irrigating by saline water (tap water, 15, 30 and 60 Mm) and applying aquous solution of putrescine (0, 1 and 2 Mm) as foliar spraying or soil application for 75 days. After the trial period, morphological and physiological traits and chemical composition of seedlings were measured. Salinity reduced significant at 1% level number of newly-emerged shoots and fresh weight of shoot and reduced significant at 5% levelseedling height, length of new growth and root dry weight. However, dry weight of shoot and root fresh weight were not affected by salinity.Independent effect of putrescine was significant at 1% level only on shoot number. Interaction effects of putrescine and its application on type root fresh and dry weight was significant at 1% level. Only root dry weight was influenced by the interactions of the three experimental factors (salinity, Putrescine and its application method). Results showed that the effects and interactions of salinity treatments, Putrescine and Putrescine how to use, on shoot and root sodium, potassium, chloride and Na/Kof lime seedlings were significant at 1% level.Salinity decreases in potassium and increases sodium, chloride and Na/Kwere seedling shoots and roots. But the highest concentration of putrescine,a significant amount of sodium, chloride and Na/Kin the shoots and roots of treated seedlings was reduced and further improve the Potassium shoots and roots.
