The development of renewable energies has a positive influence on the environmental aspects and minimizes the pollution of air, water and land. Marine flow energy is an example of renewable energy that has the ability to develop and improve. Extraction of this energy can provide the power needed for areas that are enclosed in water or have not access to the national grid.
Present study is on the Savonius Marine Vertical Axis Turbine which is suitable for low-speed currents. Numerical modelling of the flow around the turbine has been done to find the static torque coefficient by using Solidwork, computational fluid dynamics software. The results show good agreement with the experimental results and indicate the proper performance of the software. In the next step, a turbine model with spiral blades was evaluated. The power of this turbine is 19% more in the same conditions than conventional turbine, and each turbine generates electricity of 7.66 consumers. This number is based on the national per capita consumption. Certainly, in areas where electricity from the national grid is difficult and not electrified, consumers will consume electricity well, so the consumption of per capita will decrease and the number of subscribers will increase.
